Piers Morgan Discusses Michael Barrymore's 'Raw Anger' Over The Current State Of His Career

The divisive TV presenter says the public refuse to "accept that Barrymore was an innocent man".

Piers Morgan has revealed that former TV presenter Michael Barrymore feels “raw anger” over the current state of his career.

An upcoming episode of Piers’ interview series Life Stories features the former Strike It Rich host, in which Barrymore discusses the way things have played out since a man was found dead at his home after a party in 2001.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Piers said: “He had everything and then lost it all. He lost his marriage and career, and nearly lost his livelihood, but ultimately was never convicted in relation to any of the events people know him for.

“He feels raw anger that he’s not been allowed to rebuild his career, because people don’t want to accept that he was an innocent man.

“It will be the most powerful show we’ve ever aired. Michael showed us what made him the most popular guy in TV.”

Six years after the death of the man at his home, Barrymore was arrested in connection with the incident, eventually receiving compensation from Essex Police in 2018 for wrongful arrest.

Since 2001, Michael’s once lucrative career has never been the same, though he has made occasional appearances on reality shows including Celebrity Big Brother, in which he finished in second place, and Celebrity Come Dine With Me.

He also guest hosted one episode of The Friday Night Project shortly after his CBB stint, and in 2014 appeared on a celebrity special of The Jeremy Kyle Show, in which he discussed his turbulent personal life.
