Gary Lineker's Verdict On Piers Morgan's Spitting Image Puppet Is Suitably Savage

Ouch.

Piers Morgan and Gary Lineker love to wind each other up as often as possible on Twitter, so when the Good Morning Britain presenter’s Spitting Image puppet was unveiled on Wednesday, it was only a matter of time before Gary piped up.

Piers is the latest star to be parodied in the reboot of the satirical comedy series, which will debut on streaming service BritBox later this week.

After Piers’ puppet likeness was revealed live on Wednesday’s GMB, the host admitted he’d “waited all his adult life” to be featured in the show, but was less than impressed with the end result.

“Last night, I got sent the image, and I was like, ‘do you know what? I could have waited another 40 years for this’,” Piers said.

Cue Gary giving his (savage) verdict…

That’s gotta sting.

Puppet versions of politicians like Donald Trump, Boris Johnson and Michael Gove have already been revealed ahead of the shoe’s return, as well as celebrities like Kanye West, James Corden and Billie Eilish.

Co-creator Roger Law recently said that the show would be taking aim at figures on all sides of the political spectrum, insisting there is “lots of ammunition to throw at the other side” of UK politics too.

“You go for them all,” he added.

Spitting Image originally ran for 18 series between 1984 and 1996 and was watched by 15 million viewers in its heyday.

It will return to streaming service BritBox on 3 October, with a second series following next year.
