So. Many. Zubats.

The Pokemon Go Halloween Event has arrived in the form of a free update to the iOS or Android app.

Along with some genuinely useful treats including increased drops of candy the update also places a focus on ghost Pokemon, increasing the likelihood that they’ll appear in the wild.

Pokemon Go Halloween Start Time:

Now!

Pokemon Go’s Halloween event is live right now and will continue on until the 1 November when the app will be exorcised of all perks and returned to normality.

Pokemon Go Halloween Candy:

One of the most positive changes here is that there’s a huge increase in the amount of candy you’ll be able to collect.

Essentially what you’re looking at are double drops all weekend, so instead of picking up just three candy you’ll get six.

This perk becomes increasingly more exciting when you take into account the candy drops during egg hatching. You’ll still be walking the same distances but instead of getting 10, 20 and 30 respectively you’ll be picking up 20, 30 and 40 pieces.

Pokemon Go Halloween Ghost Pokemon:

Now this is where things get a little trickier (see what we did there). You see Niantic have massively increased the chances of finding a ghost Pokemon when you’re out and about.

This is great for all of you who are after more high-level Pokemon like Gengar, unfortunately a side-effect is that you’re about to catch more Zubats than you know what to do with.

Zubats, Drowzees and Ghastlys are going to be flooding your local parks and streets. We’re really not sure if it’s worth the trade-off: Seeing less Pidgeys in return for seeing all the Ghastlys.

Anyway, if you fancy taking the plunge back into the dark mysterious world of Pokemon Go at Halloween the update is now live and can be downloaded for iPhone on iOS and Android smartphones.

What is Pokemon Go?

Pokemon Go is a mobile game which is compatible with smartphones running iOS or Android.

It can be downloaded via the iPhone app store or Google Play store.

The game uses a new technology called augmented reality, what this does is layer a game/virtual experience over the real-world.
