Police Officers Seriously Hurt In Collision With Maserati

Two police officers are seriously injured after they were hit by a Maserati as they walked back to their vehicle.

The male and female police constables, aged in their 30s and based in Brent borough in north west London, were returning to a marked police vehicle parked on the A406 near Brent Park in Neasden when the white supercar hit them at around 3.40am.

The driver of the Maserati – a man aged in his 50s – was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to provide a specimen of breath, Scotland Yard said.

Police said the car sustained serious damage and stopped at the scene.

The male officer sustained serious injuries, and police await a further update about his condition, while the female officer sustained a number of fractures, and her condition is described as serious but stable.

The officers had been at the location assisting with police inquiries in relation to an unrelated matter.

London Ambulance Service took the two officers to hospital, along with a female occupant of the car.

The woman who had been in the car, aged in her 40s, was not seriously injured but remains in hospital.

Police said the Maserati driver has been taken to a north London police station where he remains in custody.

Road closures were put in place while emergency services dealt with the incident, but all cordons have now been lifted.
