The Premier League season is in full swing and already we are getting a glimpse of who will be claiming the individual awards come May. For some, however, life at their current club has become tough and these five must make a move in January before it's too late.

The Premier League season is in full swing and already we are getting a glimpse of who will be claiming the individual awards come May.

For some, however, life at their current club has become tough and these five must make a move in January before it's too late.

5. Lukas Podolski

When Arsenal brought in German international Lukas Podolski in April 2012, the North London club appeared to have made a shrewd signing.

However, Podolski has quickly slipped down the pecking order at Arsenal and is usually seen making an appearance from the bench.

His goalscoring record for the Gunners isn't awful by any means considering his lack of starts and he has netted 28 times in 74 games.

But if the 29-year-old wants to shine in his few remaining years, he needs to find a club where he will get more game time.

4. Roberto Soldado

Tottenham Hotspur could write a fairly long list of transfer flops, but the biggest of them all is probably Roberto Soldado.

The Spaniard was prolific for his former club, Valencia, scoring an impressive 81 goals in 141 games. Since moving to North London two years ago, however, he has netted just 13 times in all competitions.

Of Soldado's six goals scored in his first season in the Premier League, only two came from open play and he has been regarded as the most expensive penalty taker ever, at a whopping £26m.

If Soldado doesn't want to be remembered as the biggest waste of money in the last decade of Spurs' history, he needs to move on now and rejuvenate his career.

3. James Milner

Despite James Milner having a reasonably good start to this season, he has long been overshadowed at Manchester City by their big money moves and foreign stars.

Milner was once regarded by his Under-21 boss, Stuart Pearce, as the best player in the England youth set-up. However, as the seasons go by one can only feel that the midfielder could be a key player for another club further down the table.

At 28-years-old, James Milner still has plenty of time to shine, but he needs to move to a club where he can get regular game time, something he often struggles to find in Manchester.

2. Andy Carroll

Every couple of months, rumours of Andy Carroll's return to Newcastle do the rounds, which are rather unlikely considering the amount West Ham spent on the number nine.

There is reason for the speculation, however, as Carroll would possibly benefit from a fresh start.

His time at West Ham has been ruined by injury after injury and due to his latest absence, Sam Allardyce and Co. have brought in a number of star strikers who have hit the ground running.

Hammers fans are enjoying the way their side are playing and perhaps a few extra quid for their former key man would do them good. Perhaps Carroll would also be able to force his way back into the England set-up.

1. Mezut Ozil

After his big money move to Arsenal, Mesut Ozil flew out of the gates, racking up assists and goals every game for the first month and a half of his Gunners career.

Since then, however, things have gotten rather stale and the German international has been played out of position on a number of occasions.

Ozil was a star at Real Madrid and the pressures of the Premier League may tempt him to make a move to Bayern Munich - something that has been speculated to in the past few days.

Arsenal may not want to let him go, but if the fans get on his back and the criticism gets too much for him, then a move away from the Premier League may be what is needed to get his career back on track.
