After 10 years away, Gavin And Stacey is set to return to our screens with an hour-long episode this Christmas, but while all of the main cast are expected to return, Sheridan has said she’s not been asked back to reprise her role as Rudi, Smithy’s younger sister.
When asked if she’d be back during an interview with Zoe Ball on the BBC Radio 2 breakfast show, Sheridan said simply: “I wish. No, I’m not going to be in it, I think.”
Sheridan – who was once in an on-off relationship with Gavin And Stacey creator James Corden – starred in a total of seven episodes of the hit sitcom.
Her character was best known for her heated fights with her brother, Smithy, and this memorable scene that saw them performing Kanye West’s American Boy rap down the phone to Gavin…
James recently teased what fans can expect from the upcoming Christmas special, revealing he deliberately sidestepped any mentions of Brexit as he wanted the show to feel like a “nostalgic joy-bomb”.
He also hinted that there would be a nod to the late Margaret John, who played Stacey’s neighbour Doris, but poured water on the suggestion that we’d be finding out what happened during Uncle Bryn’s notorious fishing trip.
Larry Lamb – who plays Mick, Gavin’s dad – recently revealed that fans should expect an emotional reunion, revealing: “It’s amazing what he and Ruth have managed to do. I’ve finally read the script and it really... it got me.
“I just started to read the first little sequence and I just found myself crying. It was like running into somebody that was a major part of your life and you’re just so happy about it.
“It didn’t really matter what they were doing, it wasn’t funny, it wasn’t anything, it was just so poignant and they were immediately into the feeling of the whole thing, and it just took me along.”
