11 Showbiz Fails From 2019 We're Still Cringing At

All toe-curlingly brilliant.
LOADINGERROR LOADING

Unlike the rest of us, when famous types mess up royally, the rest of the world knows about it, and 2019 has been another vintage year for celeb f*** ups.

So get ready for your jaws to drop and toes to curl again as we bring you the year’s most memorable (for all the wrong reasons) showbiz fails...

1. Gemma Collins slips up (again)

Gemma Collins started her year with a bang - literally, when she fell flat on her face during one of the Dancing On Ice live shows. It followed her falling down a trap door at the BBC Teen Awards in 2017, so we’re keeping everything crossed The GC manages to stay upright in 2020.

2. The wayward coffee cup in Game Of Thrones

HBO

How did it get there? Why did nobody notice it? Was it deliberate? Was it a flat white or latte? So. Many. Questions.

3. Amanda Holden lets rip on-air

Mandy had only been in her new job at Heart Breakfast for a matter of weeks when she parped live on air. And to make matters worse, the whole thing – including the moment the presenter lifted her cheek to let one out – was caught on camera. Charming.

4. EastEnders set steals the scene

BBC

In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment from EastEnders, a piece of rogue scenery with a warning message to crew members could be seen on camera in Dot Branning’s living room. Honestly guys, you had one job.

5. John Travolta gifts us another awards show blunder

One is the most famous pop star in the world, the other is Drag Race star Jade Jolie. No prizes for guessing which one JT attempted to give the Video Of The Year award to at this year’s VMAs.

6. Madonna’s performance at Eurovision is memorable for all the wrong reasons

Full marks to Madge for staying upright and avoiding another cape-gate at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, but it was nil points for her dodgy vocals...

...which suddenly sounded pitch-perfect when the performance was uploaded to her official YouTube channel a few days later. Hmmm.

7. Piers Morgan loses GMB poll in spectacular style (but still thinks he’s winning)

The smile was wiped off Piers’ face when a poll conducted by the very show he presents asked whether he should be fired - and 59% of Good Morning Britain viewers insisted he should be. An in typical Piers’ style, he then claimed the result would actually lead to him getting a pay rise.

8. The one where Paul Rudd ran over Jennifer Aniston’s broken toe on a Segway

Ok, so this wasn’t a 2019 fail, but this sorry tale only came to light this year, so it’s going in. Over to you Mr. Rudd.

“I was on the set for my first episode [of Friends] and Jennifer [Aniston] was on a Segway because she had broken her toe, and everyone was marvelling at it. Matt LeBlanc asked to have a go and immediately knew how to do it. I then asked to try it too. I spun round and rolled it right over Jennifer’s foot! The producers look of panic was if to say, ‘Is it too late to fire him? Has his character been established yet?’ I felt awful. Such an inauspicious start.”

9. RIP Ginger Spice

BBC

We had high hopes for Geri Horner’s appearance on Drag Race UK. The campest Spice Girl judging drag queens... what could possibly go wrong? Well, everything as it happens.

Fellow judge Alan Carr summed it all up perfectly: “Geri was outraged by everything. This is a woman who, at the Brits, came out of an inflatable vagina singing Bag It Up! And she was grabbing her pearls [at Drag Race]! I was shocked.”

10. The not-exactly-PG-version of The Little Mermaid debuts

The debut of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Live! event went off almost entirely without a hitch – apart from one unfortunate slip-up, that is. John Stamos played Chef Louie in the live version of Disney’s classic film, and during an off-script moment, he turned to camera and joked that he should have been cast as Prince Eric. The only trouble is, that’s not quite how it came out.

After his rendition of Les Poissons – during which his character was hit with flour – he joked that “I knew I should have played Prince Albert”. Yeah, that’s something entirely different.

11. Olivia Colman gets royally embarrassed

Netflix

Think the Royal family are fans of The Crown? Not according to Olivia Colman, who plays the Queen in the third series.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Olivia explained: “I met Prince William at a dinner and he asked me what I was doing at the moment, before he quickly added, ‘actually, I know what you’re doing’ I was so excited and asked, ‘Have you watched it?’ His answer was a firm, ‘No’.” Awks.
