Simon McCoy Announcing Pippa Middleton's Baby News Is... Peak Simon McCoy

Classic.

BBC newsreader Simon McCoy’s announcement of the birth of Pippa Middleton’s son went... well, exactly as his fans have come to expect.

Shaking his head and laughing in disbelief as he read briefing notes in front of him, the veteran broadcaster revealed on Tuesday afternoon that Middleton, sister of Duchess of Cambridge Kate, had given birth.

The newsreader, whose underwhelmed delivery of previous royal baby news has won him a legion of admirers on social media, has been called: “Peak Simon McCoy.”

He said: “Within 24 hours of some royal baby news, I’ve got some more. Pippa Middleton, sister of course of Kate, has given birth.

He added with a laugh: “It says here, has given birth to a baby.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have said they are thrilled for Pippa, and her husband James.”

He added: “Congratulations from all of us to Pippa and James for the birth of a baby.”

Earlier on Tuesday, Pippa and James Matthews announced the birth of their baby boy, weighing 8lb 9oz, at 1.58pm on Monday 15 October at the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital.

A spokesperson told Hello magazine: “Everyone is delighted and mother and baby are doing well.”
