Christmas wish list = complete.

Prepare for major nostalgia overload. Sony is launching a new mini console, the PlayStation Classic, a quarter century after the original on which it is modelled.

Hitting shelves in time for the inevitable Christmas gift rush, the games console mirrors the 1994 PlayStation and comes preloaded with 20 original games, much like its Nintendo mini-rivals.

Plus, it will cost just £89.99 – a fraction of the price of most modern games consoles. For perspective, Sony’s own PS4 retails at around £250.

The PlayStation Classic bundle will include the console itself, two controllers, two HDMI cables, one USB cable and those all important instructions.

The preloaded games will include fan favourites Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms, several of which users will be able to play with or against friends.

Sony said the console will be around 45% smaller than the original PlayStation but emulates the look and feel of the design classic with similar controls and packaging.

The devices will launch in limited quantities on 3 December in Japan, North America and Europe. Hands up if you can’t wait.
