Anneka Rice has revealed her Strictly Come Dancing training has been impacted after she recently suffered a fall while out for a walk.

The former Challenge Anneka star is one of 15 celebrities who will be taking part in the new series of Strictly, and filmed this year’s launch show over the weekend.

However, in a new interview with The Sun, she admitted that she’s not quite where she should be in terms of her dancing, after a shoulder injury affected her training.

“I fell badly on a very wet grassy slope. I have been in physio for that so haven’t done what I needed to do,” she explained.

“It’s getting better but it’s meant I haven’t been able to do the ‘all singing, all dancing’. It’s slightly holding me back.”

Anneka has previously been rumoured for Strictly on more than one occasion, noting that while she’s been approached for the show in the past, she’s turned it down out of fear of embarrassing her family.

She said: “I’ve been asked to do the show before but I’ve always said no straight away.

“I’ve always promised my children I’d never do anything to embarrass them while they were at school, but my last son is now out of university so I’ve just got a little window before I have grandchildren, so I thought ‘what the hell’.

“If I can’t get one of these lovely professionals to teach me how to dance, then nothing will.”
