Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse received a seriously A-list message of support ahead of their performance in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing final.

The comedian is one of four celebrities in the running for the glitterball trophy, with pop singer HRVY, EastEnders actor Maisie Smith and reality star Jamie Laing also vying for the title of 2020 Strictly champion.

As he gears up for his final performances on the Strictly dance floor, Bill tweeted out a video message he’d received from none other than Idris Elba, wishing him well in the live final.

“Bill… it’s Idris, your old dance teacher,” the actor says in the 30-second clip, before giving a quick shout-out to Oti.

“I am so proud of you guys, man. Congratulations on getting to the final, that’s massive. Everyone’s rooting for you – well, I’m definitely rooting for you. And just enjoy yourself, man. Kill it, you know what I mean? You look great.”

Idris added: “Just remember what I used to say in class. Just remember that stuff. And don’t forget it. Alright, man? I love you! Good luck.”

“Huge thanks to the legend that is @IdrisElba for taking time out to send me this lovely message,” Bill tweeted, as he posted the clip online.

Idris isn’t the only A-lister to back Bill and Oti, though.

Earlier in the series, they received a public message of support from music legend Janet Jackson, after performing a routine in outfits inspired by her Alright music video.

If Bill does manage to scoop the glitterball trophy, Oti will make history as the first Strictly professional to win the show two years in a row.

It will be a big night either way, though, with remaining pros Gorka Márquez, Janette Manarara and Karen Hauer all in the running to win Strictly for the first time.

Find out how the remaining couples get on in Saturday night’s Strictly final, airing at 6pm on BBC One.
