Made In Chelsea star Jamie Laing has confirmed he’s taking part in the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.

While in the past, Strictly has mostly stayed away from signing up reality stars, Jamie – who has appeared in Made In Chelsea since its second series in 2011 – was announced as one of this year’s celebrities during an appearance on Loose Women on Monday.

He was the third star to be confirmed in the same day, after RuPaul’s Drag Race judge Michelle Visage and Paralympian Will Bayley were also revealed to be taking part.

Jamie said: “I am beyond thrilled to be asked to be on Strictly, the only person potentially more thrilled is my mother. I have finally become the son she hoped for!”

Interestingly, the BBC has chosen to refer to Jamie as a “television personality and businessman” in the official press release for the show, mentioning the podcast he hosts with fellow reality star Francis Boulle before his status as a Made In Chelsea cast member.

Jamie, Michelle and will join those already confirmed for this year’s Strictly, including comedian Chris Ramsey, YouTuber Saffron Barker, former footballer David James, soap star Emma Barton and former Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldsley.

Also on the line-up are BBC Breakfast star Mike Bushell, CBBC presenter Karim Zeroual and chef Viscountess Emma Weymouth.

More names are expected to be announced in the coming days, with TV presenter Anneka Rice, football manager Sam Allardyce and Atomic Kitten singer Natasha Hamilton among those rumoured to be taking part.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One in the autumn.
