Strictly Come Dancing's Oti Mabuse Reveals Body Insecurities Left Her In Tears At First Costume Fitting

The dancer will detail her experiences on Thursday's episode of Lorraine.

Oti Mabuse has opened up about her body insecurities, revealing that she burst into tears at her first ever Strictly Come Dancing fitting.

The dancer joined the BBC show in 2015 and has explained that she often felt insecure about having a different body shape to many of the other female professionals.

Explaining how her 28GG bra size has been the source of stress in the past, Oti said: “I remember fitting my first bra and I was crying. I was like, this looks so bad and I look so massive compared to the other girls.

“Nobody picked on me for it and no one discriminated against me for it and nobody said anything in a negative way and I think that helped me and my self esteem and my nerves about being out in a bra with sequins on.”

Oti has also revealed how her mum helped her choose well-fitted clothes and bras when she was younger, adding: “All my family has always had big boobs.

“I was hitting puberty way before other girls were. As a 12-year-old girl going in and saying ‘I’m looking for a B cup’, that kind of sounds unrealistic.

“I’m lucky that my mum has the same issue and she was able to teach me how to deal with it. As a young girl I was always wearing jerseys over it.”

Oti’s comments come ahead of the launch of a new Lorraine segment, Body Confidential, which will kick off with Oti sharing her thoughts and speaking to other women with similar body shapes.

Since joining Strictly, Oti has won legions of fans and was a huge hit with viewers when she made her judging debut in The Greatest Dancer earlier this year.

Her skills as a judge even left many people hoping she’d take Darcey Bussell’s open spot on the Strictly panel but Oti has ruled out hanging up her dancing shoes just yet.

See Oti’s interview on Lorraine from 8.30AM tomorrow.
