’Strictly Come Dancing’ has been accused of racism after Tameka Empson became the second black celebrity to be voted off the dance show in as many weeks.
The ‘EastEnders’ star found herself in the bottom two on Sunday night despite scoring 28 points for her tango.
Following her dance-off with TV presenter Laura Whitmore, all the judges, with the exception of Darcey Bussell, opted to save Laura.
Tameka’s exit comes just one week after Kiss FM presenter Melvin Odoom became the first celebrity to be voted off this year’s series.
Following Tameka’s departure, many viewers took to social media to accuse the BBC One show of racism...
Not everyone agreed though...
Tameka admitted she was disappointed to be leaving the competition but praised her dance partner Gorka Marquez.
“It has been brief. I’ve enjoyed my time immensely,” she said. “You guys watch it at home but it’s really lovely to be a part of it. Thank you.”
She continued: “Gorka is such a lovely person. He is a great asset to the show. You have showed me so much passion and motivation. I love you. You are a great dancer.”
