Strictly Come Dancing Judge Shirley Ballas Reveals Why She's Considering Removing Her Breast Implants

Shirley's appearance on Who Do You Think You Are? has made her think about her health.

Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has said she’s considering removing her breast implants, over concerns that they might affect future mammogram exams.

Shirley learned about her family’s history of cancer during her appearance on Who Do You Think You Are?, telling the Sunday Times that this has made her think more about her own health.

“I’ve had breast augmentation,” she told the newspaper. “It makes me take a step back and think when you go for these mammograms: ‘Can you see at the back? Is it clear what you can see?’

“It’s making me sit back and think: ‘Shall I remove them? Would it be a good safety precaution for me?’”

She also revealed she’s already consulted with a doctor in Liverpool to see what is the “best route healthwise”, should she go ahead with having her implants removed.

In the same interview, Shirley also spoke about her mum Audrey’s diagnosis with colon cancer last year.

After undergoing surgery, Shirley nursed her mother back to health, adding: “We are one year in to my mum’s diagnosis, and we are just waiting for one last check-up to see if the cancer has attached to anything.

“She doesn’t want to do chemotherapy and wants to live every day as it comes. That’s my mum. She’s my inspiration.”

Shirley gave the interview as part of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning campaign.

She said: “I just want to be there for everybody and support the charity by helping raise awareness and money towards magnificent nurses and incredible services.”

Shirley is currently gearing up for her third series as Head Judge on Strictly Come Dancing where, alongside a host of new contestants, she’ll also be joined by Motsi Mabuse, a newcomer to the panel.

Last week, she called for Strictly fans to stop focussing so much on the show’s so-called “curse”, pointing out that it has been responsible for several “great love stories”.
