One of Nintendo’s most-loved games, Super Smash Bros, is coming to the Switch in 2018, the company announced.

Nintendo confirmed the game with a mysterious launch trailer that shows two new characters from the game Splatoon 2 duking it out with each other.

The world goes dark and the flaming symbol of the Smash Bros. series can then be seen floating above an ensemble of characters.

Nintendo hasn’t confirmed exactly when the game will be launching but we do know it will be some time this year.

Super Smash Bros. is one of Nintendo’s most popular series and when launched for the Gamecube it became the console’s best-selling game.

Players can take on the role of over 50 of Nintendo’s most iconic characters including Mario, Donkey Kong and Link and then they have to fight it out in a side-scrolling arena where the objective of the game is not to kill one another but to push them off the map.

The game was revealed alongside a number of other major game announcements as part of Nintendo’s Direct video presentation series.

The iconic Dark Souls game will be launching on the Nintendo Switch later this year with updated graphics.

Activision’s hugely successful Crash Bandicoot N’Sane Trilogy will finally be launching on the Switch this year as well after a record-breaking run on the PS4.

We learned that Nintendo will be launching a major expansion for Splatoon 2 including over 100 new weapons, outfits and several new maps. A separate DLC will also introduce a new character and give players the chance to explore another single-player campaign.
