A teen is facing multiple counts of indecent exposure after allegedly flashing his bare crotch in a varsity sports team photo.

Hunter Osborn joined his football team mates for the picture, which was included in a commemorative year book given to thousands of students and parents.

The 19 year old now faces 69 charges - one for each of his teammates present.

Osborn from Red Mesa, Arizona, is now said to be "disgusted" with his behaviour, according to police.

Authorities were made aware of the apparent prank last week.

Officials from the Mesa Police Department say that if students older than 18 do not wish to press the charges brought, Osborn penalty may be reduced, KPHO reported.

Detective Steve Berry said: "It is still an ongoing investigation. The number of charges may go up or down depending upon how the investigation continues."

Although now 19, the photo was taken when Osborn was aged 18.

He also faces one Class 4 count of "furnishing harmful items to minors", Buzzfeed reported.

Copies of the yearbook have been recalled and the photo will be edited out, a school official said.

Mesa Public Schools Director of Communications Helen Hollands told Buzzfeed: "While the small size of the photograph as published makes the details difficult to discern, the yearbook has been recalled so the school can make a minor but critical edit for the inappropriate content."

Aside from any potential criminal charges, Osborn may now face school disciplinary proceedings.

He has thus far declined to publicly comment.
