This Toddler Video Makes Us Wish Our Dad Was An SFX Expert Too

Turns out The Floor Is Lava game is even more fun when the floor *is* lava.

There are endless debates in school playgrounds about whose parents are cooler. Well, “debates” might be making it sound grander than the reality, which tends to involve shouty claims of one person’s dad being far better than another person’s dad – because he can build the tallest Lego castle.

It’s difficult, because coolness is so nebulous, especially when it comes to things like jobs. A firefighter gets to shoot hoses and swing axes for a living, which is undeniably cool, but they also wear plastic trousers, which isn’t.

It’s endlessly arguable. Until now, because we have a clear winner – the special-effects-toting dad, who transforms his son’s toddlery exploits into Hollywood-standard mini-blockbusters.

A tweet sharing his best clips yet has gone viral this week – alerting us all to his awesomeness.

The dad, known as Hashi, has a visual effects YouTube channel – Action Movie Kids – which shows his two kids, James and Sophia, ending up in extraordinary situations.

It’s pretty flipping awesome – so it’s no wonder he has more than a million subscribers. Just look at this montage.

While on paper the idea of watching a small child plummet unimaginable depths sounds disturbing, this kid does it with such a badass swagger that it’s all perfectly pleasant.

It’s hard to fathom the work that must have gone into all of this. It mostly seems spontaneous from the kid – given his dad’s Spielberg level post-production – but there surely has to be a reasonable element of “Okay, the camera is at the perfect angle for this ace clip of a shark I found online, go and pretend it’s chasing you”. Either way, we’re into it.
