Tucson Cop Violently Attacks Unarmed Woman Trying To Cross The Street (VIDEO)

WATCH: Tucson Cop Violently Blindsides Unarmed Woman

A police officer in Tucson, Ariz., aggressively blindsided an unarmed woman who appeared to be simply crossing the street Saturday.

Videos posted on YouTube and Facebook show an officer in riot gear appearing out of nowhere and shoving a woman, knocking her over a bench.

The incident occurred in an area where University of Arizona students and fans had gathered in a near-riot after the school lost to the University of Wisconsin in the NCAA Men's Basketball tournament.

"These girls had been trying to get to their car. The girl is on her phone not paying attention and this cop came out of nowhere and just leveled her," Phoebe Landolt, who shot the video, told the Arizona Daily Star. "After that everyone just started yelling and she started crying."

Immediately, cries rang out of "What'd you do that for?" as the officer stood by in a ready stance, baton out, facing the woman he'd just shoved.

Witness Tyler Charles told the Arizona Daily Independent, "The girl walked passed me and she had her drink in her hand. I don't know if it had alcohol in it or not ... But she literally walked [past] me and the officer just rammed her and all of us guys around lost our shit."

According to his LinkedIn profile, Mann is a former U.S. Army platoon sergeant. He also served in the Arizona Army National Guard.

The department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from The Huffington Post. It told local news outlets it is reviewing the situation in the video. Other than that, the department has indicated that it believes its officers handled the "unlawful assembly" well.

"We've been hearing all the complaints that we were excessive and things like that as well," Sgt. Pete Dugan told KVOA. "Which you'll be able to see, I think, from what we have, that we gave these dispersal orders over and over and over. And the crowd was not responding to it."
