The number of people who have died in UK hospitals after contracting coronavirus has risen to 11,329 – an increase of 717 over 24 hours.
The figures cover the period up to 5pm on Sunday, but the true number of deaths may be significantly different.
Meanwhile, as of 9am on Monday, 290,720 people have been tested for coronavirus, with 88,621 coming back positive. It represented a daily increase of 4,342 confirmed cases.
Earlier on Monday, a spokesperson for the prime minister that almost 49,000 NHS staff and their families had been tested for Covid-19, with 2,630 tests carried out at drive-through sites in the 24 hours leading up to Sunday morning.
Among the 667 patients whose deaths were announced in England on Monday was a 17-year-old with an underlying health condition, the NHS said.
Meanwhile, 40 of those who died – aged between 37 and 98-years-old – were believed to be otherwise healthy before contracting Covid-19.
