'X Factor' Live Show Hit By Technical Blunder As Danny Tetley Is Given Wrong Intro

Danny was lauded by the judges for the way he handled the gaffe.

‘X Factor’ hopeful Danny Tetley was forced to restart his performance on Saturday night, following a technical blunder.

In the first live show of the series, Danny was wrongly introduced by the booming ‘X Factor’ voice as fellow competitor Anthony Russell, and as if that wasn’t enough, Anthony’s backing track then also began playing.

Danny then began his performance of Mariah Carey’s ‘Hero’, but admitted after a few seconds that he’d been “thrown off” by the debacle.

Fortunately for Danny, he won praise from the judges for his performance, which was part of the first week’s ‘This Is Me’ theme.

“Don’t feel bad about what happened,” he was told by Simon Cowell. “It made you better in my opinion. Who cares?”

Similarly, Louis Tomlinson told him: “The pressure of what just happened to you and you picked yourself up and delivered that vocal, you should be really proud of yourself.”

His mentor, Ayda Field, was particularly impressed with how Danny handled the gaffe, telling him that he would be viewed as a “hero” to young viewers who had tuned in to the show.

Prior to the live shows, it had already been a tough week for Danny, who had been forced to miss rehearsals and various media appearances due to illness.

Elsewhere on the ‘This Is Me’-themed live show, duo Misunderstood opened the night with original song ‘Chewing Gum’, Scarlett Lee took on Aretha Franklin’s ‘(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman’ and the LMA Choir performed ‘Circle Of Life’ from ‘The Lion King’.

Dalton Harris closed the show with his version of David Bowie’s ‘Life On Mars?’.

‘The X Factor’ continues tonight at 8pm on ITV.
