It is no secret that we live in a world where the majority of the people in developed countries are unhappy with their physical appearance. Almost every aspect of modern life is dominated by a desire for instant gratification and technology has become a way for us to make everything faster.
I first had my top lip done when I was 26 at The Private Clinic in London. If I had liked my mouth I wouldn't have had my lips done. If a man or woman has something done it is because he or she can no longer live with that part of their body, it is no longer bearable. Either they get help and find the strength to fight [the need to have plastic surgery] or they proceed with the act.
Demi Moore reinvented herself and bagged hot younger guy Ashton Kutcher thanks to a bit of help from Liposuction. And millions of women around the world have used it for a quick fix to excess fat. Demi Moore is the most well known liposuction fan after she combated the signs of a woman heading into her 40s by spending a reported £200,000 having her body remodelled- £16,000 of this was on liposuction on her thighs, hips and stomach. Other celebrities who are believed to have had a bit of suction treatment include Cher and comedienne Roseanne Barr.
For those who want to go under the knife, what do we do? Most dermatologists recommend you start early with as much youth-preserving ammo as possible. High quality sunscreen, consistent use of good moisturizers, lots of rest, and drinking half of your numerical body weight in ounces of water. These beauty tricks may not stop the clock totally, but they will certainly help you to age gracefully, and be better for your budget. People talk about having had liposuction with the casualness one might use in referring to having their teeth whitened. Is diet and exercise a much safer, more fulfilling and healthier approach to weight loss in general. The most appealing aspect of liposuction is the speed in which the procedure can vacuum the fat deposits off your problem areas- while diet and vigorous exercise regimes have a much longer time frame and call for more work on our part.
1992 100m Olympic Champion Linford Christie gave advice to the NHS on Obesity and exercise he thinks that we are getting fat as a nation because we are lazy, and watching rubbish tv about other peoples lives. He said "Families don't do enough together. Get up and do things as a family. Go for walks or go to the park. We have some of the best parks in the world so people should get out there and roll around a bit! Make up some games or play the games you used to play as a kid."
But what about the middle aged spread? Linford says "Well, I still try to fight it. I say, be vain! Go down the gym and take care over how you look. Middle age spread is something you can avoid. Slow metabolism is just an excuse. Having kids makes you think about getting in shape. I want to be around to see my kids get married, and their kids too." Not everybody is confident in the gym and exercising in front of other people Linfords advice is "Try going for brisk walks and swimming or cycling. They're just as good for getting you fit and cheaper than the gym. There are exercises you can do at home, such as push-ups and sit-ups. Play with your kids or grandchildren. Jumping around like that keeps you going. Exercise with your partner and train towards something even if there are no parks or gardens where you live everyones got a little space, you can put in a trampette. They're fun and really get the heart rate up."
Harley Street's Doctor Gupta who has featured on Channel 4 Embarrassing bodies says about Microlipo "there is next to no recovery time. Three days and you'll be back to yourself after having had microlipo, you will notice a dramatic change to your silhouette immediately after the procedure and final results can be seen within three to four weeks. The fat cells that are removed during Microlipo will not come back. The small incisions made during this procedure will not require stitches so downtime is minimal. You'll need to wear a pressure garment under your clothes for two to three days after treatment to speed up recovery, tighten the skin and avoid bruising and swelling. Most people return to their normal routines within 48 hours and can resume regular exercise within seven days, "
As a former International athlete and qualified Sports Scientist I understand the benefits of exercise on the body, such as a stronger immune system, increased oxygen flowing in your brain and body, and a less stressed body. Exercise can also affect you emotionally and psychologically, and can even improve your relationships and career goals. And of course the harder you train the faster you race. I also understand that science and medicine is improving everyday. Doctor Gupta says "even after the surgery you will need to do all the sensible things to maintain your new weight and exercise to stay healthy". I've read magazine articles about celebrities being really strict about food. Eating frozen grapes for snacks, drinking vanilla soy. They must be miserable? I can't imagine such a radical change in my diet to get my stomach flattened. Can Lipo be called cheating if I have done everything in my power to control my wobbly bits?
Is wearing makeup cheating? Maybe everyone gets their satisfaction in different ways?
