A few years ago Fashion Shows were strictly for the media elite only. Top editors sat front row with their notepad and pens and were privy to a preview the rest of us would have to wait months to see. The only opinions that mattered were those in a key position to influence the future of the brand such as the editor of a top magazine or the fashion writer for a High Grossing daily newspaper.

Nowadays however things have changed... with the advent of online media, live streaming and social media interaction, brands have to be prepared to face a whole world of opinions from the minute their first model steps onto the catwalk. And everyone, even Joe Bloggs on the street is entitled to view, comment and influence.

As a result the whole atmosphere, organisation and delivery of Fashion Week has also changed and the adventure doesn't need to begin with a press pass. Now full scale, city wide events, Fashion Weeks are no longer shrowded in mystery and snobbery. Instead they are five days of social activity which has the whole city talking.

Brands are recognising the need to engage both press and consumer at the same time - press with a new collection and consumer with a current one therefore stores are utilising the excitement and buzz around the city in order to offer deals, discounts and workshops, galleries and museums are hosting fashionable exhibitions, fashion films are being screened, books and magazines launched and there is certainly no shortage of interesting events and savvy shopping possibilities all of which are awaiting your arrival.

So if you are in London during Fashion Week this season, and are keen to be involved but don't know quite what to turn your attention to then take a look at this run-down of some of the best events the city has to offer, none of which require an invite, press pass or BFC accreditation.

Enjoy a Fashion Tea with Teatum Jones at the Dorchester.

Ok so this particular one may not involve a press pass but it does involve a ticket and around £52. But the good news is its open to all and the price includes a cocktail. Sold? I thought so. Combining this launch with the unveiling of their new SS13 collection there will be two sittings of Fashion High Tea on the 18th September offering posh grub and a fashion show on the side. The scarf will also be on sale from Liberty this month.
