TL;DR
Apple Phone, Apple Pad, Apple Watch, Apple Book and the Apple Mac, the "i" generation is over, embrace the era of "Apple X"
Apple's latest keynote was great, it really spoke to some great values of the company with talks on Privacy (and encryption wrt to the FBI case), Environment (recycling) and Disease. It was a truly fantastic keynote to watch for Apple's focus outside of just the products they make.
The real main event was the release of the much asked for 4 inch iPhone, the "iPhone SE" with SE standing for "Special Edition" as well as the iPad Pro 11 inch.
Following this latest edition of the iPhone it raised a point that Apple's product line and naming is getting a tad complex, a bit un-Apple like. There is now an iPad, iPad mini, iPad Air, iPad Pro (9.7-inch), iPad Pro (12.9-inch), iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone SE and three different Apple Watch's in different sizes all with dozens of straps.
So I feel Apple have an opportunity to simplify at their next keynote for iPhone/iPad. They can both adopt their new naming system and make choosing iPhone to a more similar experience to the Macbook (which has different screen sizes and storage after you choose your model).
Apple is about simplicity so when you go to buy an iPhone, instead of being greeted by iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and the iPhone SE, why not just the Apple Phone. From there, like with a Macbook, you should be able to select screen size and storage. That's it.

For example, you want to buy an Apple Phone, when talking to friends for advice they aren't saying "well, the iPhone 6S Plus has a 5.5 inch screen, the iPhone 6S has a 4.7 inch screen and the iPhone SE is 4 inches", you can just say "which screen size do you want, 5.5, 4.7 or 4?" and the whole buying & explaining process is just, well, simple.
After all, inside the phone, all options are incredibly similar, there are only a few differences, the same sort of differences you'd expect when comparing Macbooks. The same goes for the iPad.
So here's my product lists for Apple September conference:
1. Apple Phone
2. Apple Pad
3. Apple Watch
4. Apple Book
5. Apple Mac
Apple Phone would replace iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 SE. Apple Pad would replace 12.9-inch iPad Pro, 9.7-inch iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4 and iPad mini 2. Apple Watch replaces...well nothing. Apple Book replaces Macbook, Macbook Air (both), Macbook Pro (both). Apple Mac (or Apple Desktop) would just be a group name for the iMac, Mac Pro and Mac mini which covers desktop computing.
One of the five already exists, Apple Watch, and the new naming is consistent with their new naming nomenclature, Apple Music and Apple Watch were the birth of "Apple X" and its time to upgrade the rest of the family.
The "i" for iMac originally stood for Internet and morphed to just meaning "Apple" version of something. It worked great, but the time of the rather epic "i" generation has gone and Apple should commit completely to their modern style and more logical "Apple" naming system, the "i" generation is over, embrace the era of "Apple X".
