I am a Londoner, but I live and work in São Paulo in Brazil. This week I collected my Brazilian permanent ID card. It's taken months of bureaucracy and many visits to the policia federal in Lapa to get this far.
The Argentine people should have the intelligence and dignity to drop all claims to the Falklands and so to benefit from improved relations and trade, or for ever be complaining about the state of their own country and what might have been.
Tthe reasons for any foreign ICT organisation to enter Brazil are compelling. Brazil is presently the seventh largest market in the world, with $165.7bn spent on ICT in 2010, and expected to become the fourth largest before long. The domestic market for IT is the eighth largest in the world, and only $2.4bn of IT services were exported.
No modern police service can refuse to engage in dialogue with the citizens they are there to protect and Facebook is just a relatively recent way for the police to talk to the public. If they choose to start deleting intelligent questions that question their policies and behaviour then they may as well forget about counting on the public - the people who pay their salaries - for support.
