Children Of Gay Parents

In my opinion it takes considerable bravery to walk up to someone's home unannounced and attempt to engage them in conversation. For that reason I try to provide a polite and friendly response to anyone who has chosen to call at our door.
I think I was about 16 when my dad came out as gay. Following a series of hospitalisations relating to his mental health, the time had come for him to start talking about his sexuality. In the years that have since passed, I have also come out and subsequently been asked various reductive and predictable questions...
I don't know why I don't want to get married; I just don't. Whether it's because a failed marriage sounds much more scarring than a broken relationship, or I'd die at having to bring lots of people together to homage to me, I'm not sure, but the concept has never appealed.
