coping strategies

everybody bannerAs an adult I have developed many different strategies and coping skills to help manage the more difficult elements of my PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance). Some of these strategies I've learnt to adopt and others have come naturally to me, even before I knew what PDA was.
Getting divorced can knock you sideways emotionally, physically and mentally and make you feel like your world has turned upside down. You may also experience periods of depression or anxiety.
Having suffered from life-threatening bouts of depression for four years which led to alcoholism, drug abuse, medicine-induced psychosis, near-suicide attempts and multiple hospitalisations before my eventual recovery at the start of 2012, feeling overwhelmed is something I'm very familiar with.
