equality and human rights commission

The UK equality watchdog - the Equalities And Human Rights Commission (EHRC) - announced it is formally investigating the Labour party after multiple reports of anti-Semitism. The party has struggled with the accusations from around 2016 when it suspended two MPs for anti-Semitic comments. The party updated its definitions of hate speech, but party members continued to complain of a lack of action around dealing with anti-Semitic comments from members. There was a 13 percent rise in anti-Semitism across the world in 2018 according to a study by Tel Aviv University's Kantor Center for the Study of Contemporary European Jewry.
