The most common results-based goal I see is weight loss, for example: "I will lose 30lb by this day next year". We think this is a great goal because it's specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and has a deadline (timed). So, it's a SMART goal, right? Wrong.
We've all been there, half way through a pack of biscuits justifying it to ourselves that we'll eat the whole pack now and that means there'll be gone; 'Out of sight, out of mind' and the diet can start tomorrow! Two weeks later, you're half way through another pack of biscuits...
No accountability or consequences for quitting means people do not believe in the positives of their goals and their goals don't have any true meaning to them.
If you want to stay focused and keep your dreams, desires and aspirations alive, a vision board is a must! You want to keep your desires on fire, create a mindset of possibilities and take baby step actions towards that date with your dream goal!
I want to take "me" - which means my business - to a much bigger audience. I want to get, FAR more women, to stop doubting themselves and start living more daringly. I want to see them achieve things they never thought they could.
I won't complain. I tell myself that I got myself into this. When my son came to me to say he wanted to make the 'A-team' in school, I told him we would have to sit down and set it as a goal so that he could start working towards it. So who am I to say no when hubby and my son go ahead to put up a goalpost in the back garden.
January 1st has come and gone, which means many of us have undoubtedly made a few resolutions and set some goals for ourselves, from getting fit and eating healthier to volunteering or learning a new skil
If your guilty pleasure is watching The Kardashians, then forbid yourself to watch it unless you're on a treadmill. The same goes for dieting: tell yourself you can only watch Judge Rinder if you've had a salad, and new associations will take shape in your brain.
Often January can start full of good intentions but it's not uncommon to soon fall back into old habits, especially if some of our plans hit obstacles. Then we can end up berating ourselves, feeling a failure and becoming disappointed at our lack of progress.
