inner peace

After befriending your unconscious, fear creeps into your house, bed, bath and soul, and sometimes it sneaks into your dreams, until it completely hijacks and paralyses the part of you that was born to bloom.
From the moment we wake up until the moment we go to bed, there are so many things we can get annoyed with: traffic noise
Your beloved cats don't come to you on the bed, so I hear. The one called Little Sock does not part from your mother's side. Perhaps they give you space. Perhaps they have started to let you go. Your mother says she is strong, now, but does not know about after... how she will cope. She will be 80 next month. Her only child is dying.
It is your choice: to be someone, going somewhere - with all the fun, stress and strain that comes with your given name and acquired reputation; or being no one, going nowhere, not much fun but standing tall - at peace, with an understanding of where happiness truly lies.
At the heart of Christmas is the Bethlehem babe, who later went on to preach that we are to love our neighbours as ourselves. Not instead of ourselves or despite ourselves but as ourselves. The all-inclusive love Jesus was teaching, therefore, includes the call to each of us to look after "number one", too.
This mind is always making noise - more so when we are not talking. To develop silence of the mind, initially you need a quiet place. Then listen to your mind without expressing any opinion to confuse the matter.
According to the Dalai Lama, all people have one thing in common: they want to be happy. And it is true, all people do want to be happy - it's just that some of us partake in behaviours, that although may bring us some temporary relief, are also destructive to us in the long run.
Be mindful of those who come knocking on the doors of your senses: eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind. When you see something that you like, for instance, or something you dislike, you have already let a 'feeling visitor' through the door.
When you watch the mind, you will find there is a beginning, middle and an end to each troublesome thought or emotion. Sometimes before you even get to the end of it, the mind will jump onto something else.
We do not have to live life by the hand it dealt us. No, we choose our own path and say, "This is the life I'm going to live and this is the person I'm going to be... and I'm damned if anything is going to change that."
