With the world of racing being so physically and mentally demanding, it's nice to get away from it all - especially before the buzz of Le Mans kicks in. But with just under four weeks until the race, it's still crucial that I keep in shape for when I get back.
What's a typical week for a racing driver? Well, we don't have one! That's part of the reason I love what I do - no two days have to be the same. 5th January and that's it, Christmas is over, goodbyes to the family and straight on a plane! First up it was off to compete in the Asian Le Mans series, then to Dubai for the annual Dubai 24hour and then to Kuala Lumpur.
However, many people can't understand why racing a car is still a socially acceptable occupation. After all, these things seemingly run round and round, burning valuable fuel for no apparent reason.
It does take time, or rather I ought to say money, to go racing... Racing is expensive and whilst one might think "Gosh paying for simulator time when I could be on a track" is indeed true, but mixed in with a planned racing or track time schedule, the simulator will save you money in the end.
