At least 144 psychiatric patients died in 2016 after the Gauteng department of health moved 1 700 mentally ill people from Life Esidimeni homes into ill-equipped NGOs and state facilities.
"These are responses from the police. No reports have been made available; we are still waiting for the department of health," Nkosi-Malobane told News24.
The families, who received arbitration awards of more than R1-million each, received financial counselling on how to manage their new capital.
Very few of our leaders can go through the eye of the needle of true accountability.
Mmusi Maimane reportedly said the Life Esidimeni families needed to be supported.
Retired judge Dikgang Moseneke released the arbitration findings on Monday, revealing the compensation amounts for families of victims of the tragedy.
The egregiousness of this situation goes to the heart of the Constitution, because it violates several rights.
The State had agreed to a R20,000 claim per family for funeral expenses, and R180,000 for emotional shock and psychological injury, and counselling services.
"I feel people have been betrayed and I also felt betrayed as the Minister of Health. This has tarnished the health system of the country," Motsoaledi said on Wednesday.
"Apologising doesn't mean a lot if there is no truth".
