Mary Robinson

All too often women are missing from key discussions on climate change yet we know that due to existing gender inequalities and development gaps, climate change ultimately places a greater burden on women.
This weekend I was in Dakar (Senegal) to meet Mary Robinson and Angelique Kidjo. Kidjo is the most famous diva of Africa who has performed with global top artists like Alicia Keys, Carlos Santana and Peter Gabriel and who travels the world tirelessly to confront leaders with the truth on women.
Indeed there is no shying away from the parallels in this exhibition with so much modern entertainment. Celebrity worship is another human constant; and with celebrity, as any Hugh Grant or Steve Coogan knows, comes sex, obsession and the baying British press.
