Migrant worker

The abolition of the NHS surcharge for migrant workers is correct – but most wouldn't qualify for a visa anyway under this government's immigration scheme, Mandu Reid writes.
Britain’s fruit and vegetable farmers are almost totally reliant on seasonal migrant workers. Having previously been inundated with applications from Romania and Bulgaria, labour agencies say interest dropped off, post-Brexit, in 2017 and 2018 as workers opt to go elsewhere in the EU.
The seasonal veg could be staying in the ground this year.
Once again, this government has put bogus ‘clamp-downs’ on migration ahead of the real needs of our economy
Instead of scapegoating foreigners for low pay, Labour are better off campaigning for free movement and stronger collective bargaining rights
