This year's UK A-Level results revealed an alarming truth: very few girls actually took computing at A-Level: 9.8%. As someone who works in the tech industry, I find this worrying and sad. Numerous studies have revealed that the current gender gap means the UK tech sector is missing out on significant business opportunities for growth, innovation and success.
I believe it's imperative to stand up for what you believe is right; for me on of these things is gender equality. While it's always been important to me, the birth of my two daughters has made it more personal as I want to set an example for them and show them that I believe they can achieve anything they want.
It's time for the creative disruption of legacy systems to align with the next phase of computing: adding intelligence into customer and employee-facing applications, like Salesforce, to enable companies to unlock and monetize data.
