slowing down

I keep having moments of wishing that time would slow down. Being on holiday recently and my littlest turning one a few months ago has made me more aware of time passing. I want to take it all in and make sure I'm not missing anything!
What I have found is that the more I try to fit in to a short space of time, the increasingly harried and disconnected I become. And I find that I don't actually achieve what I set out to achieve in the space of time I have given myself. I get frustrated and annoyed. I don't notice the simple beauty of what is all around me.
There is a price for this lifestyle: stress, loss of productivity, burnout, deterioration of relationships, decrease of creativity and innovations, and a feeling that time is slipping through our fingers with life passing by.
Try the power of slowing down by focusing on all your senses while eating, by focusing on the food, the environment you're in and on chewing. Once you've experienced what going slow can do for you, you'll want to try it all the time.
The bikes are normally blue but this summer there's a limited number of yellow bikes to celebrate the Tour de France coming through London and as I arrived at the bicycle stand there was a special yellow bike among the blue bikes. I felt like Charlie finding the golden ticket in a chocolate bar and took it as a good sign.
Try meditation to help you slow down - to spare your heart and cardiovascular system from wear and tear due to stress. When you practise meditation, the awareness of your breathing or bodily movements becomes enhanced.
