I was terribly homesick in my last years, but in the words of philosopher Martin Buber (b 1878, d 1965), "All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware". For me, the secret destination that I was meant to be, but was unaware of, is in the heart of the Mediana family.
Maintaining a yoga practice whilst on the road and being mama to a little toddler is not easy to say the least but it is possible. Just like that impossible yoga posture it requires patience, courage and a little bit of determination.
ife and death are the great pretenders, the illusionists who compel us to make sense of the hand we have been dealt with and even that is the luck of the draw (or karma, for some). Every day we are challenged and struggle to make sense of our world but that doesn't mean we have to give in to fear, worse yet, to a fear of ourselves.
Over the year I had traveled thousands of miles to discover new places and things only to truly discover myself. The incredible evolution I underwent has shaped me in to an almost recognizably conscious, empathetic, joyful person from where I started. You will change your life if you begin to see where you are doing what you complain about in the world. Sure it is a smaller version than a full-blown war but it is a war never the less. Stop the inner war and you start a revolution.
I felt as if I had arrived in the Garden of Eden - our home for a week was a luxury eco retreat, perched on the top of a hill, surrounded by four acres of fruitful Spanish gardens. The owner of Finca Paradiso, an artist, created a vibrant, colourful environment with Spanish and Moroccan influences.
"What am I waiting for?!" I'm always waiting on something; a man, a deal, a friend. Not least of all waiting to travel to places I've always wanted to see. Fast forward 10 hours and I'm en route to the land that joins the East and West.
