talisker whisky atlantic challenge

We have been busy gobbling up the nautical miles - and they tasted good! The end now feels like it's in sight, as the first crew has crossed the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge finish line to win the race in 41 days, two hours and 38 minutes. Huge congratulations to Locura Rows the Atlantic!
This Christmas was my first without my 21-year-old son, Luke, who is currently half-way across the Atlantic in a tiny rowing boat. He and his best friend Jamie (the 2 Boys in a Boat) are taking part in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge and if they complete the race they will break the world record for the youngest team to row the Atlantic.
Just over a week ago my 21 year old son Luke and his best friend Jamie (the 2 Boys in a Boat), started the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge- a 3,000 mile rowing race across the Atlantic. If they complete the race they will break the world record for the youngest team to row the Atlantic.
The Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge 2013/14 has begun! We're now 48 hours into the race and we're lying in third place so far. Its early days but we've had a good start and above all, it's an amazing feeling to finally be out in the Atlantic after two years of preparation and training.
They've done it! They crossed the line at around midnight Bajan time, 7 Feb 2011. What a day it's going to be and it has started very early for me. I woke at 4am to a massive tropical storm and am still wide awake, knowing it's not time to get up yet and knowing this morning I will be reunited with my lovely Robert "Bertie" Portal. I simply can't wait.
