As students from across the country start to mobilise campaigns to leave the National Union of Students (NUS), both the NUS and pro-NUS Students' Unions are upping the ante. But whilst disaffiliation referendums are being proposed in various universities thanks to student-led efforts, the pro-NUS opposition - with the help of various paid full-time officers - is throwing everything it's got.
Despite it being the summer, Freshers and the beginning of term will be upon us before we know it. There will be thousands of fresh-faced, nervous 18 year olds in the pool of trepidation which is first year. They will currently be dreaming of freedom and what university life in Plymouth (of all places) will be like.

It's a Saturday night in Bang Bang, two girls are sitting on the floor giggling into their tap water as they grab their cards out of their purse and start racking up lines. It's like a scene out of Skins, except these aren't young A-levelers, they're Plymouth Uni students.
