There has been a lot of hype about the final film instalment of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit and some of the reviews so far have been less than favourable. However there are some truly memorable and spectacular moments, which punctuate Peter Jackson's latest release.
Bilbo Baggins has had a bit of criticism for not being that involved in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies but he does change the plot by doing something particularly sneaky (see below). There are stand out performances from Evangeline Lilly and Richard Armitage, love across races and even an appearance from Billy Connolly in this new release.
At 144 minutes long the film has been criticised for a lack of story arc and in some respects this is true, however the characters have incredibly strong journeys. Several main characters go through a profound change during the course of the film and we learn more about them as people/Elves/Dwarves than in any of the other Hobbit films.
