Pennyhill Park, Surrey

Set amongst 123 acres of sprawling Surrey countryside, parkland and pine forests, Pennyhill Park is a beautiful 18th Century manor house, golf course, and huge, state-of-the-art spa (at 45,000 square feet it's one of the largest in Europe).

As I approach the beautiful ivy-clad manor house I have some reservations; large can be impressive but it can also feel impersonal...

Thankfully I'm VERY pleasantly surprised - a roaring fire, flickering candles and huge fragrant floral displays create a cosy, welcoming ambience, and the incredibly friendly staff bring a charming personal touch.

Efficiently checked in to my room I venture out to my secluded terrace. Mesmerized by the rolling hills, woodland and strong scent of rosemary below I find it hard to believe that I'm less than an hour away from London, and just five minutes from the bustling town of Bagshot. I feel like I'm in a secret hidden oasis of calm, a haven of relaxation. A million fantasy miles away from the nearby stress of city life.
