DESIGNER: Marc by Marc Jacobs
INSPIRATION: Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan meets vintage thrift store hippie with a touch of Tokyo street style
TOP LOOKS: Plaid trench coat with orange sneakers and metallic silver bag; plaid long-sleeve top with checkered skirt; sky blue dress with black stripes and cut-out detail; gray T-shirt with orange and pink striped full skirt
ACCESSORIES: Flats! Sandals with a wee platform (but no heel); candy-coloured sack bags with heart motif; medium-sized metallic handbags with logos
WHO WAS THERE: Carine Roitfeld, Terry Richardson, Lorenzo Martone, Brad Goreski (Rachel Zoe's assistant)
WHAT WE THOUGHT: This collection seemed to have bits and pieces of other MJ-branded lines. The floppy bows tied around the models' heads were last season Louis Vuitton all the way (and of Madonna in Desperately Seeking Susan, who, by the way, attended the Marc Jacobs show on Monday night. See how it's all connected here?).
Much like the namesake collection, Jacobs' diffusion line also featured a smattering of ruffles along the side seams on jumpers and skirts. Lastly, the shoes! There was nary a heel in sight (think moon boots).
As for the clothing it was loud and playful. Pink and black plaid shirts mixed with blue floral and polka dot print skirts; black and red checked jackets pared with blue and purple pinstripe jeans; and day dresses and pants with hippie/tribal prints in all the colours of the rainbow.
The mini-Marc collector will love it.
