Now Showing: Hussein Chalayan's Unwearable Art

Photo courtest of the Lisson Gallery

One of fashion's most daring figures invites you to take glimpse into his world at a new exhibition at London's Lisson Gallery. Hussein Chaylan; the man that introduced the world to the table skirt, LED laser fabrics and the "windblown dress" unveils his latest exhibition tomorrow.

"My approach has always been interdisciplinary; the new work is an extension of this", says Chalayan. "There is a certain freedom to working in an art context that has allowed me to further explore the ideas that underpin my work".

Entitled I Am Sad Leyla, the new installation and accompanying film show the designer exploring music and his own Turkish roots - two themes that have played an integral part in his fashion presentations.

Chalayan's creations provide a reminder that fashion can be a source of innovation and big ideas - just don't expect to wear any of his pieces to the supermarket.

Hussein Chalayan is at the Lisson Gallery, London NW1, from Wednesday.
