VIP Skiing (Without The VIP Price Tag)

You might not think much of his fashion sense, but if Richard Branson – a man with his own private island and airline – chooses someone else's travel company for his holidays, it's got to be something special. So MyDaily was excited to discover that the multi-millionaire's favourite, VIP Ski is opening a brand new luxury chalet in the French Alps.

Billed as the ultimate piste-side retreat, Altitude Lodge in Les Gets has been three years in the making and opens in December. And for once, boutique luxury doesn't equal a price tag that only a multi-millionaire can afford.

With nine bedrooms, three of which have an outdoor tub with mountain views, as well as sauna and massage suite, piste-side bar and restaurant, it hardly even matters if you can ski. However, if you can drag yourself away from all the finery, the chalet is just 300m above the village of Les Gets, with green, red and blue pistes and a nursery slope nearby.

Throw in little touches like a ski room with boot warmers, welcome champagne and canapés, and three meals a day including three-course dinner, and it's no surprise the entrepreneur isn't the only celebrity fan.

If you're a ski novice, Les Gets is probably how you'd imagine an Alpine ski resort. Dating back to the 12th century and originally dependent on dairy farming, the village is a mix of quiet cobbled streets, great for ambling along for some window shopping, and enough bars to keep you happy if you're looking forward to some après-ski. The local restaurants keep the traditional theme going with open fires, local dishes on the menu and plenty of vin chaud to warm you after a hard day's skiing.

Quick facts: Seven nights at Altitude Lodge, Les Gets, costs from £849 per person on a catered accommodation basis, including return flights and transfers. Call 0844 557 3119 or visit www.vip-chalets.com
