Shanghai Flies Ahead As Favourite Destination

Move over Beijing, Shanghai has suddenly flown ahead as the destination with the highest jump in flight searches this year, beating off competition from the rest of Asia and Oceania.

The city is currently hosting the Expo 2010 World's Fair, as well as being home to the beautiful European-style waterfront known as the Bund, the French Concession, plus designer-packed shopping malls and ancient temples, including the famous Jade Buddha temple.

And flight searches have jumped 151, while Hanoi in Vietnam was up 123 rise for Aden in Yemen, which the FCO recommends against all but essential travel to.

Meanwhile the destinations which have dropped in popularity included unexpected contenders like Moscow, and Paphos in Cyprus, as well as a few which most of us would be hard pressed to find on a map: Dabolim and Coimbatore, India and Diyarbakir, Turkey.
