Savannah Miller, one half of the dynamic duo behind fashion label Twenty8Twelve, talks to MyDaily about "borrowing" clothes from her sister (the actress and Savannah's Twenty8Twelve design partner Sienna Miller), filling up on beauty, and wanting to dress up like a fairy every day.

Who is your style icon and why?

At the moment it's Tilda Swinton because she makes masculine dressing unbelievably sexy and ambiguous. And Coco Rocha because she is always herself.

I like it when you can tell a lot about someone's personality from the way they dress. It is far more exciting than generic trend following.

What's one piece of clothing every woman needs in her wardrobe?

A great tailored jacket. It really pulls an outfit together. I recently "borrowed" a Helmut Lang jacket of Sienna's, which has a slightly stretchy sleeve. It fits like a glove. I'm obsessed with it. We always include a great tailored jacket every season at Twenty8Twelve.

Which designers do you most admire and why?

Christopher Kane because he is the master of reinvention - I fall deeper in love with his mind every season. And Prada, because it's all perfect. I love the way Muccia defines and empowers women with her clothes. And they are the most exquisitely made clothes in the world.

Who or what inspires you creatively?

Film. I'm obsessed with Paris, Texas by Wim Wenders. It is very dreamy and ethereal and I can get completely lost in it, which I love. I also just went to a rehearsal of Onegin at the Royal Ballet and nearly died. It was so beautiful it hurt. Generally, I'm really inspired by great photographs. Angelo Pennetta's pictures really light me up.

Describe the best outfit you've ever worn.

My wedding dress. I felt completely transported to a magic land. I wish I could dress up like a fairy and skip through fields of flowers every day.

What look do you love but doubt you could pull off?

Red hair. I would really love to have red hair. Even just for a day. Maybe I should go buy a wig...

How and where do you do your best work?

Ironically, I have the best ideas when I am falling asleep. Also when I am on holiday. Generally when I am a million miles away either physically or metaphorically from my studio.

Do you read any of the fashion or style blogs? What's your favourite?

I like The Sartorialist. I think he has amazing taste and I always love what he photographs. I quite like Bybellazine by Bella Howard and Backyard Bill by my friend Bill Gentle.

What is your most extravagant sartorial purchase?

When I was 22 and working for Lee Mcqueen, I spent 700 quid on a Balenciaga jacket that was in the sale at Koh Samui in Covent Garden. I had gone in there to pick something up for Lee and had to call my bank manager and beg him to let me have an overdraft. I still live in it ten years on so it was money well spent.

What makes you happy?

My family and great food. And Europe in the summer with magic friends. And beauty. Beauty makes me feel full.

What makes you sad?

Not being with my kids and being far away from home. And generic business hotel rooms. They kill me. And the feeling that life is racing past really fast and none of us are really stopping to enjoy it. The chaos of it all is quite overwhelming for me, but I bet if my life was slow I would be bored out of my skull.

What do you wear when nobody's looking?

Um...Nothing...

What is your most treasured piece of clothing or jewellery?

My grandmother's wedding ring. She died three months after I was born and I never met her because she lived in America, but I'm absolutely convinced I would have loved her. My dad says I look exactly like her.
