The official engagement photos of Kate and William have been released, taken by legendary photographer - and favourite of William's mother - Mario Testino.

The focus is on the pair's portrayal as an "ordinary" couple in love, and Kate's outfits for the shoot are testament to this.

Middleton's stylists chose to dress the future HRH in two premium high street brands for the photos, clearly designed to make her style appear accessible, but with a touch of class.

In the first, Kate wears her own Whistles blouse, which would have cost around £70, while the second image shows Middleton in a £159 Nanette dress from Reiss's current collection, and Links of London Hope earrings. Meanwhile, her fiancé borrowed the photographer's own jumper for the shot on the left.

Owners of the Reiss dress have been cashing in on its new found fame by flogging it on ebay - and after the reaction to Kate's Issa dress, we expect to see more knock-offs in store in the not-too-distant future.

It's great that Mr Testino has captured them looking so relaxed, but are we the only ones who think the shot on the left looks like something from a Boden catalogue? We wonder what the Queen makes of it all.
