Kate Middleton Steps Out In Black Velvet Coat And Pillbox Hat For Weekend Wedding

All eyes were on Kate Middleton as she attended the nuptials of friends Harry Aubrey-Fletcher and Sarah Louise Stourton in North Yorkshire this weekend. And the bride-to-be wore... black.

Middleton look chic (and slimmer than usual) in a black velvet coat by Libelula paired with an above-the-knee dress and black pillbox fascinator hat. She added a dash of colour to the ensemble with plum coloured shoes and a clutch bag of the same colour.

In related news, retailers have been warned that using the "Kate Middleton brand" to flog merchandise (i.e. replica dresses of the ones the royal-to-be has been spotted wearing) could saddle them with lawsuits for hundreds of thousands of pounds, reports the Daily Mail.

"(It is) highly unlikely that we would have any objection if a company wanted to call a dress 'the Kate dress,'" a royal aide told the Mail. ''Kate' isn't specific to Catherine Middleton. It may, however, be a different scenario if it was called the 'Catherine/Kate Middleton' dress as that impacts... on personal copyright. Or indeed if a company was suggesting a dress was officially endorsed by Catherine."
