Hot Collaboration Alert: MM6 Maison Martin Margiela Teams Up With Opening Ceremony

A look from Maison Martin Margiela's S/S 11 catwalk collection

What happens when two of the hippest brands in the fashion universe unite? Magically transforming clothes, for one.

Maison Martin Margiela's MM6 sister label is launching its first capsule collection with retailer Opening Ceremony (whose other über-cool collaborations include Rodarte and Chloë Sevigny), launching for autumn 2011.

Previewed this week during New York Fashion Week, the collection features women's apparel and accessories and focuses on a 3-in-1 approach where the outfits transform from, say, a cropped fur coat into another piece of outerwear and finally into a basic V-neck, or a quilted leather bomber turns into a nylon jacket. The same works for accessories, with a cropped boot turning into a knee-high and a leather tote deconstructing into a clutch. Pretty amazing stuff.

The collection launches at Opening Ceremony and Maison Martin Margiela stores internationally in September, so Londoners won't even need to cross an ocean to get our hands on it (although if we had to, we would).
