Catwalk Review: PPQ A/W 2011/12

PPQ's feline inspired head gear is sure to catch on for autumn/winter 2011/12. Photo: PA

DESIGNER: Amy Molyneaux and Percy Parker of PPQ

INSPIRATION: Our feline friends; pointed felt headpieces and catseye flicks of liquid liner took care of this in the most literal sense, but there was also a sleeker approach to silhouette.

TOP LOOKS: A charcoal halter neck dress that crossed over the body was beautifully executed, and leg-of-mutton sleeve blouses and cinching pencil skirts gave tongue-in-cheek take on the officewear drudge.

WHO WAS THERE: Jaime Winstone,Kimberley Walsh, Corinne Bailey Rae and Paloma Faith.

WHAT WE THOUGHT: This was a markedly more sophisticated collection from Percy and Amy. Yes the skirt lengths were thigh-skimming and there were frilly lacy stockings and cartoonish appliqué to add some PPQ tongue-in-cheek charm, but the palette was kept sombre and the heavier woollen fabrics leant themselves to more tailored silhouettes. This is still a collection for the East London's party kids that PPQ is known for dressing, but this collection suggests that the party kids have grown-up just a little.
